Selecting the Right Style of Women’s Robe

January 30th, 2011

While a bathrobe is an excellent gift for nearly any occasion, how do you go about selecting just the right one when there are so many styles available?

Men, in particular, often have a difficult time picking the ideal women’s robe for their wife or girlfriend. Here are some pointers to help you decide.

The Stylish Woman: a Luxury Bathrobe

If your gift recipient is a lady who is concerned with wearing the latest fashions and always appears in public with every hair in place and her makeup just so, consider gifting her with a luxury bathrobe.

Stay away from ordinary materials such as terry and opt, instead, for high thread count cotton or microfiber such as you might find in a spa robe. The thicker and heavier the fabric, the more luxurious it will feel on her body. A shawl collar is a timeless and classy style.

The Environmentalist: an Eco-Friendly Robe

For the woman who is an avid recycler, is concerned about the environment, and buys only eco-friendly products, the best type of robe may be one which is made out of an alternative fabric, such as hemp. Raw silk or waffle cotton, with their reliance on renewable sources for production, are also good options.

Since this female is probably a bit more casual in dress, you might want the style of her bathrobe to be casual as well. Look for a hooded bath robe with deep pockets or an unstructured fit in a kimono-style robe.

The Athletic Woman: a Versatile Bath Robe

If your woman prefers a game of tennis or a swim as opposed to a day at the spa for a manicure, her style of robe will need to be more versatile. A toweling bathrobe, made out of terrycloth which readily absorbs moisture, is always a good bet.

As well, find a robe in a shorter length. This allows her to wear it for a variety of occasions – at the gym, to and from the Jacuzzi, or as a light wrap over her pajamas.

The Antique Lover: Vintage Style

Any woman who loves combing antique shops looking for unique finds from a bygone era will surely enjoy receiving a robe which mirrors this style. You don’t necessarily have to find a true vintage robe. Many designers offer bathrobes in old-fashioned styles.

Some things to look for are an empire waist, an A-line skirt, sheer fabrics combined with silk or satin, and lots of lace embellishments. These women’s bathrobes are the ultimate in femininity.

Hopefully this guide will give bathrobe shoppers a good idea of what to look for to best please their gift recipient. No matter her style, there is a woman’s robe which will be just the perfect one for the lady in your life.

3 Tips to Pick the Best Women’s Purse That Fits You

January 28th, 2011

Can you guess who is every women’s best friend? I am thinking about the one who always accompanies us everywhere we go if it is a shopping spree, cocktail party or just going to work. I am pretty sure you know who I am talking about. It is the women’s purse that none of us can live without. Of course we have many many other friends such as shoes, wallets, sunglasses but the number one is the authentic designer handbag that can not be replaced by anything else. They hold our little treasures starting from phones, credit cards, keys, notepad, pen, cosmetic bags, sunglasses and the list can go on and on. Just stop for a second and think about it. Can you imagine world without the women’s purse as we know it? What would we do without them? How would we carry around all our so called necessities?

In today’s fashion world purses are considered to be ladies prized possessions and they are characterized as fashion style statements. Especially authentic designer bags are used to express style, individuality and moods. Maybe you will agree with me on this but the purses that you carry can essentially add on or lessen the weight that you appear to carry. It is very important to pick the right shape, style and size of women’s purse that actually fit your body and personal style. Some of you might think that it’s easy to do and some of you might be completely lost.

Here are 3 basic points that you should keep in mind when buying a new authentic bag.

Size

- simple as it can be if you are quite tall and big, do not pick this tiny little bag that nobody would even notice
- the dimensions of your purse should complement your size
- the same goes with the petite person
- do not get this huge handbag that will completely cover most of your body

Shape

- When choosing the shape stick with the opposite to your body type
- For example you are tall and thin look for a women’s purse that is more unstructured and rounded such as hobo bags. These shapes will complement your body and provide nice contrast.
- Go for the tall, rectangular and exactly outlined shape of authentic bag if you belong to the short and more heavy side of the population. Just keep in mind stay away from ladies handbags with rounded designs.

Style

- Handbags that fit right under the arm at breast level are best suited for ladies who are thin and need to emphasize their feminine part – cleveage
- Bigger ladies should definitely avoid short handle purses. They have tendency to emphasize the bigger sizes so they are absolutely a big NO NO for more heavy women
- The length of the women’s purse will always intensify the body part it comes near with.
- e.x. if your authentic bag comes to your hip area then that area of your body will become more targeted as the eyes are naturally drawn to it.

We are all different with a unique style. Generally I can say that most of the women look amazing in women’ purse that ends in mid-torso as it flatters the waist. It should not be very difficult to pick the right size, shape and style for you since the market is full of amazing designs in each category. Just look in the mirror and keep in mind the 3 basic rules we discussed.

Women’s Clothing

January 27th, 2011

Changing fashions, soaring variety and shrinking sizes – that seems to sum up women’s clothing. When Shakespeare wrote, “apparel makes half the man”, he probably told himself that it makes all of a woman. Women’s clothes sellers seem to have understood this only too well.

What’s in right now?

Fashion keeps changing – more so in women’s clothing. You need to keep abreast of current trends. However, trends can also convert the new look into a sort of uniform that everyone seems to wear. You can’t complain because you cannot conform and be different too. Designer and exclusive wear could offer a solution by creating a trendy but different look that attracts attention.

The current trend seems to favor black and white and stripes. They seem to be a common element in a number of fast selling dresses including solids, prints, embellished pieces, separates, dresses, swimwear and accessories. Shorts and pants have been spruced up too, ranging from knee-length shorts to convertible, rolled-up cargo pants.

Denims are in with a new look – in the form of handbags and shoes.

Blouses with an airy woven top and a Victorian touch such as lace, crochet, bell sleeves and ruffles can offer you a fresh look this season.

Suit the style to the weather

Now that summer is here, the question is what makes the best wear to suit the weather. If it’s hot outside, you need to choose your clothes in such a way that it looks trendy while keeping you cool and comfortable at the same time. Choose light colors rather than dark ones. Go in for natural fabrics like cotton and open-weave fabrics that offer better ventilation. Avoid tight clothing.

The new flirty skirts are cool (pun intended!) and can be accommodating even if you’re not perfectly sized. Try them in favor of the more popular shorts and T-shirts routine for a change. You’ll like them.

What’s the perfect length of your skirt?

You’ll have to figure that one out to suit your body shape and preferences, but remember one golden rule of fashion. The width of your skirt should never be more than its height.

How about the designs?

Try florals – it’s not a bad idea. The only thing to remember is that you should choose the prints to suit your shape. The general rule of thumb is that larger frames look good with widely spaced and larger sized prints, while smaller frames will look good in smaller prints.

Shrinking Numbers

While the average woman’s waistline is increasing the size of her dress is decreasing – at least going by the numbers given to them. So the first point that one notes about women’s dresses is that there is no standardization in the numbers and they change not only from time to time but also from shop to shop.

When ready-made (or ready-to-wear) clothing first made its appearance, there was no standardization at all, and the garments fit the wearer poorly. It was only in the mid 1940s and early 1950s that various agencies came in to set the standards and now we have the standards in place although the numbers keep changing. Efforts are still on to find a more scientific basis for the measurements and standardization of the sizes for women’s dresses.

How do you find all those dresses?

Whether you are looking for standard ready-to-wear material keeping with current trends or for designer-wear, there are a number of online stores that give you a choice of clothes. You can have a look at the various styles and designs before you find the right choice for you. Even if you are going to make the purchase from your own friendly neighborhood store, it makes sense to do a bit of window-shopping from online sources.
