John McCain describes Barack Obama as being part of the “Pro-Abortion Movement.” Yet, Obama has never been a part of any movement concerning abortion. He has however, along with so many others, has advocated such things as education, health programs, prevention, and more acceptance toward adoption. His primary concern is to reduce the number of abortions being pereformed, which is contrary to what McCain is asserting. Obama offers to work with people of all political and personal views.

What do McCain and Palin propose to do? McCain says government isn’t the answer, but he supports government intruding into the private lives of women. He makes fun of the “health of the mother exception” in laws governing late-term abortions. He also voted against the Violence Against Women Act, championed by Joe Biden, and supported by Democrats and Republicans, including President Bush. This leads to another issue concerning abortions; victims of rape.

Palin, mayor of Wasilla, made victims of sexual assault pay for rape kits and personal believes that a rape victim should not have the right to get an abortion if the victim were to become pregnant as a result of the rape. If you don’t want a return to the days when “coat hangers” represented a choice for desperate women, if you want fewer abortions in this country, and if you want to protect victims of domestic violence, if you want rape victims to have the same Roe vs. Wade rights that afforded women the right to chose, then you need to support Barack Obama and Joe Biden. Otherwise, the metal coat hanger industry will see a boost of sales if Palin managed to get in the White House as VP and then be given an opportunitity to actually be President. Now this is a scary, scary thought.

This year’s presidential campaign has prompted her to become actively involved in the political process for the very first time in her life. Some of the support she has participated in is through volunteering, voter registration, publishing article and columns, and donating money to a campaign for the first time in her life.

Five days after the tragic 9/11 attack on America’s soil, she organized a “Petition for Peace 2001″ event. Included in the event, were approximately 17 different religions, cultures, race, etc.; even two Muslim men who attended were very grateful to be a part of the event.

In 2002 she volunteered over 100 hours at the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah. On the heels of 9/11. This Olympic event was a welcome time in America and the author’s involvement in the Olympics was one of the most memorable times in her life; the only exception would be the event she organized just four months before.

Since the tragic day of 9/11 she has waited for an exceptional candidate that would lead our Country to peace and regain the positive leadership that other countries use to respect. She feels Obama is that exceptional person to lead this Country into the positive change that Americans have needed for a long time.
